£29,000 RAISED AT THREE CHOIRS & ACORNS HOSPICE CHARITY POLO DAY

An excitable crowd including Jodie Edwards, ‘Miss Worcester’ helped raise over £29,000 at the Three Choirs Festival and Acorns Charity Polo Day last Friday charity polo day last Friday, 27th June.

Hosted at the Beaufort Polo Club, over 350 guests watched as an El Nino team beat Beaufort 7 goals to 6 to win their Prince of Wales Trophy semi-final. In a game that was nip and tuck all the way, it was Argentine Martin Vidou that did the damage to ensure victory for El Nino with some impressive individual skill and team play.

Guests enjoyed a Champagne reception and 3 course lunch, before a charity auction including items such as a box at Ascot for 10 people and a holiday in South Carolina, helped raise £15,000 towards the day.

Simon Tomlinson, Chairman of the Beaufort Polo Club was thrilled, with the amount raised, “It’s been a fantastic day which wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of sponsors and donations for the auction. We’re thrilled that so many people have shown their support for the Three Choirs Festival and Acorns.”

The Three Choirs Festival, held each year since the early eighteenth century and rotating between the three great catherdral cities of Gloucester, Worcester and hereford is one of the world's oldest classical choral music festivals. This year's concert will take place at Worcester Catherdral between the 2nd and 9th August.

Acorns Children's Hospice Trust cares for life-limited children and their families from across the West Midlands region. Since 1988 more than 1,100 families have been helped by Acorns.
