The 2006 Season
The Beaufort Embryo Transfer Centre’s
2006 season will be underway on 27th May when Fernando
Riera arrives from Argentina. With a record number
of donor mares ready to start the season, we are looking
forward to a busy and exciting summer. Our donor mares
include Eventers, Dressage mares, Show Jumpers, Polo
Ponies and Arabs, so we have a broad spectrum of embryo
transfers to perform.
Our 65 strong recipient herd has
recently been moved from its winter pastures to The
Beaufort Embryo Transfer Centre where there is an
abundance of grass. Our recipients may look an odd
bunch – ranging from a 13.2HH palomino pony
to a 17.1HH Shire cross (!) – but they are now
an established group of reproductively sound mares
which we are very proud of.
Emma Tomlinson and Rebecca Cox have
been very busy getting everything ready for the start
of the season and are confident that this will be
the best season to date. If you have any questions
about the centre or embryo transfer in general, please
feel free to call either Rebecca on 07799 187062 or
Emma on 07831498948.

Job Opportunity For Experienced Equine
Embryo Transfer Veterinarian
The Beaufort Embryo Transfer Centre
is a rapidly expanding equine embryo transfer organisation
based in the beautiful Cotswolds in the south west
of England. Fernando Riera, one of the world’s
leading equine embryo transfer vets has been responsible
for ensuring that the centre has gone from strength
to strength. Our outstanding success rates (74.9%
embryo recovery rate & 70.5% pregnancy rate) are
what puts The Beaufort Embryo Transfer Centre into
a different league when it comes to equine embryo
transfer in Britain. Due to our increasing work load,
the increased demand for using frozen semen, and our
aim to start freezing embryos we are looking for an
experienced embryo transfer veterinarian who is eligible
for registration with the Royal College of Veterinary
Surgeons, to join our team for a maximum of 6 months
each year (probably April to September). Applicants
must provide evidence of their experience in equine
embryo transfer as well as proof that he/she can consistently
and reliably perform non surgical equine embryo transfer
to a standard that is at least as high as our average
figures quoted above. Please apply in writing to Emma
Tomlinson MRCVS, The Beaufort Embryo Transfer Centre,
Down Farm, Westonbirt, Tetbury, Glos., GL88QW or embryotransfer@beaufortpoloclub.co.uk
